It has rained hard all night and most of the day and our guns are all rusting. We have been handicapped for gun oil ever since we left San Francisco and up until this day are unable to get any. The Quartermaster is unable to issue some. Our rations are also unsatisfactory and we have to buy some at very high prices. But, we are all in good spirits hoping to soon get a chance at the Spaniards who are fighting right along with the insurgents. No sick.
