It rained all night and the fight is high until the morning and, in fact, the whole day stayed clear. Seven men are on guard and the company is going through their regular drills. We have fresh meat again. In the afternoon we all turned out to see our fellows play ball with a team from the Olympia. Admiral Dewey was expected but as of 4 o'clock he hadn't shown up and we all went home. Our patients at the different hospitals are doing fine and all expect to be with us again in a short time. Our newspaper is full of different rumors about volunteers being relieved in a short time but the boys have been fooled too often and don\'t take any stock in rumors anymore. Our Regiment has four cases of small pox. We therefore were vaccinated. This makes it the third time since our enlistment. [James] Woodward, [Joseph] Johnson, [Walter] Collins and [Jesse] Murphy are on the sick list.
Soldiers mentioned
