The weather in San Francisco is colder at night, but during the day it is comfortable. At 9 a.m. the colonel's remains were taken off the boat and place in a hearse and take to an undertaking establishment and put in a better casket. From there it was taken to the Masonic Temple where it laid in state. We had a large pier all day for ourselves but at 5 p.m. we had shore leave until 10 p.m. All our baggage was sorted and put on the pier.
