The Weather is fine and overyone is in good Spirits at 1 p.m. we raised Anker and 10 Minutes later sailed leaving the Hancock with the Nebraskan and Utahs behind as soon as we left the Bay the Sea got verry rough and befor Supper time most of the Boys where all ready Sea sick of course I got sick but was allright in 3 or 4 Hours most of us went to Bed right after Souper the Sea is verry rough all during the Night

the Sea is rough but the Weather is fine a few are still sick our Ration are about the Same we have 6 men on Guard there being 16 post Colonel Hawkins is hardly to be seen Lt. Col Barnet is still in Comand in the Evening we have Song and regular preeching Service on the upper Deak most of us attend the Sea is getting calmer there are only 6 men in the Hospital

Weather is nice and a good Breese is blowing the Nights are getting cooler and all is well

Weather lovely we have all colors flying in honor of the day in the Morn Lt R. Woods threated us (Co C.) all to 3 Bottle of Ginger Ale and Cigar wich we all verry much apieceated in the afternoon the Band played for several Hours we had Oysters too for Supper and spent the Evening mostly with singing

Weather is lovely also the Sea is quiet calm we had Muster and Inspection of Arms meet a Steamer for the first time far off South

Weather is lovely at noon we see several Steamers and at Hour later we seen Land and many smal sailing Vessels at 4 pm we took aboard the Pilot and soon ankered right along side of the Hancock wich had arived 27 Hours ahead of us goo many Officer goe ashore

The Weathr is fine we had a good Night sleep and had shore leave from 9 am to 7 pm we surely enjoyed our Stay at Nagasaky wich is a niece clean City everything is up to date I went to sea all there was to be seen every thing is rather cheap there our Mony is allmost worth double Horses are a Curiosity here the Japanese is of strong build good natured and verry industrous fellow also the female sex

the Night has been verry rough and all the canvas had to be taken down we are still loading coal in the Morning also Ice and Meat we all have Shore leave

it has raigned all Night and all day but we all have Shore leave and having a good time the Sea is verry rough Meat wich was put on Thursday is taken of again on account being spoiled therfor we cant leave we have Service in the Evening

It is still raignen and the Water is still rough all are buisy writing letters as the Hancock left at 5 o Clock for Yokohoma but we will not leave until Morning

The day is fine we left at 4 am and everything is cleaned up the Sea is niece and calm we are running verry slow we have niese Senery on both Sides every one is delighted with the Trip

The Weather is lovely we are going through the Inland Sea but are making but 7 Knots a hour all are well on Board bot the Colonel is verry poorly

The Weather is fine and we are enjoying the beautiful Sceneries we are meeting many Steamships and sailing Vessel and at 8 pm we layed at the Bay where owing to darknes we ankered until Morning

Weather is lovely and all of us are getting shore leave until 9 p.m. this is a Holliday over here in Yokohoma and the whole City is decorated good many amerikan Flags are visible the Captain is having a Daft cashed and each one in our Co. recieved 5 Yens $2.30 most of us went on the Train to Tokyo wish is the Capital of Japan I went there in the afternoon and returned in the Evening in time to see the Fire works in Front of the Oriental Hotel on the Bay I didnt goe aboard the Ship but put up at the Salvation Army where we had a good Bew Meals are verry reason able in fact every thing is cheap

The Weather is lovely and we all have Shore leave until 6 p.m. I took in the Sights of the City and bought several Things some lovely Paintings in the afternoon at 2 pm the Yokohoma Case Ball team played our team (10 Regt) on their Grounds wich are the nisest I ever seen all our Boys attented all Refreshment and Lunch was free for Soldiers the played 9 Inning 15 to 5 in favor of Penn the Game lasted 2 1/2 Hour and was verry interesting we all departed after giving 3 cheers for the Yokohoma Club the Hancock left at 9 a.m. during our Stay here we put on more Coal Ice and fresh Meat at 9 pm. every men was on Board the Ship

The Weather is lovely at 9 o Clock we raised Anker and sailed going in out we past the Boston and gave 3 good cheers wich where eagerly returned just one year ago this day she meet us out on Manila Bay we have 3 Nebraska Boys and one Utah Boy with us all theese got left on the Hancock the Sea is verry rough towards Night the Colonel is verry poorly the Boys are quiet well

the Weather is about the same we have but verry little to do during the Night we recieved the News that the Colonel had died at 11.40.

Weather is lovely there isnt much change on our Voyage our Grub is pretty fair but we dont get quiet anough in the afternoon we recieved the Remains of the Colonel who had been embalmed in the Ver noon and layed in a nest Casket our Flag is floating at Helf mast for 3 days and a Guard of Honor consisting of one Sergt 1 Corporal and 3 privates is placed over him the Casset is placed on the Herrican Deck

The Weather is clear but the Sea is rough and many are taken seasick

The Sea has been rough all Night all the Canvas had to be taken down we could scarcely stay on Deck long anough to get our Meals each time we got soaking wet as the Swels came clear over the Boast I was seasick with so many others the Guard on Deck where taking off during the Night

The Weather as rough and the Sea is high and ones more we have to spent most of our time down in the Hole but we have plenty of fresh Air

This is a lovely day and the Water is calm we have Servise in the Officers Dining and Sosrel Room at 1030 am both Room where filled and in the Evening we had specielly Servise in Memorium for our dead Colonel all of us not on duty attented the chaplain preached a verry good Sermon also gave us a short History of the Colonels life the Services lasted 2 Hours we had special Musick for this solem Ocasion allthough no Tears where shed we all feel that we have lost our best Officer and Comander in the Regiment and we all feel sorry for the Wife and all thoose who are so dear to him Colonel Hawkins was born in Washington Co 1843 gratuated at Waynesburg 1860 during this year he enlisted as a private in the 4th Calvary and befor the End of the Civil War wich lasted 4 years he was a Captain then he went into the National Guard where he was a Captain of H Co of the 10 Pa Regt this he held until 1876 when he was elected Colonel of the Regiment he held all during the Hispano War and the Filipinios Outbreak until on the Regt Return he died quietly in his Stateroom on the Senator at 1140 pm on July 18/1899 May he rest in peace Sunday July 23/99
The Weather is lovely all day we have Services Morning and Evening in Social Hall we havnt any change in the Weather at all and no change on Board the Ship our Sick are all doing fine this is July the 29 up until last Night we seen the first Ship sins leaving Yokohoma we are about averaging 11 Knotts per Hour and are exspecting to see "Frisco" on Thusday Aug 1. the Sea is pretty calm.

the Weather has been lovely but cold it Keeps us buisy to Keep warm at Night we had Services in Social Hall this Evening in Memorim of those who fell in the Battle at Malette on July 31/98 wich Numbr was 18 out of our Regiment Killed and 43 wounded sins then 16 more have been Killed and died total Killed (24 Men) the Servicis where attented by all Men not on duty. up until 12 oClock to day we have but 606 Miles more to make

The Weather remains fine and the Sea is calm we are buisy cleaning up our Acudelments and Guns and the Barbers are Kept buisy shaving and Hair cutting
